In eighth grade, I am embarked upon my trading journey. With the opportunity to research any topic of my choosing in my "Independent Research Class", a twelve year-old version of myself considered the implications of passive trading far more entreating than the effects of radiation or the origins of language. I first learned about long and short positions, which to my surprise were adjectives that described more than just height. To my surprise, there was more to trading than buying and selling stock-- who would have thought? I learned about options and derivatives trading, with an introduction to call and put options. By selling naked options you have have a 68% or 95% or 99% probability of making a profit? Yes, please! Under the guidance of my dad, I explored how active trading would affect my ROI, or return-on-capital. For the experimental three months of trading, we had a 2% ROI! Needless to say, from here I was hooked. In supplement to learning from the TastyTrade Gods and my dad, I supplemented my interest with courses in International Financial Markets and Investments, Economics, and Accountancy. It wouldn't be an understatement to say I was/am leaning towards finance. I hope you enjoy watching my presentation, or as I would like to coin it, my first chapter.
